About Us

We provide legal services in Trust and Estate Planning, Probate and Probate disputes, Trust Administration, and Elder Law.

Shepston Law Firm, PLLC, is dedicated to providing to clients what every law firm should; exceptional legal representation and service, fast and efficient communication, and the highest level of professional integrity. Every client is unique and brings a specific set of circumstances and needs, and that’s why a client centered approach is imperative. A plan or case strategy that works for one client or set of clients will likely not work for another client or set of clients. At Shepston Law Firm, clients are not served with a set of “boiler plate” forms and documents. Each plan or case strategy is specifically tailored to the clients’ unique goals and needs.

Located in Scottsdale, Arizona, Shepston Law Firm serves clients all over the valley including Fountain Hills and the Verde Communities. Shepston Law Firm provides legal service and representation in the areas of Estate Planning, Probate, Trust Administration, Guardianships and Conservatorships for minors and adults, and Elder Law including Medicaid/ALTCS planning.

We are happy to provide in-home, in-facility, and video meeting visits to those who cannot make it to our office.

Areas of Law

Estate Planning is for almost everyone. We provide legal services in connection with your unique estate planning needs, and that plan may include trusts, last will and testament documents, power of attorneys for finance, health care, and mental health care, living wills, and a variety of other documents as needed for each client.

Noun: the official proving of a will.

Verb: to establish the validity of a will.

Regardless of which you use, probate generally requires involvement of the Court. Probate is the court-supervised process of authenticating a last will and testament, if there is one, or of proving the heirs-at-law of the decedent if there is no will.

If you have been named as a successor trustee after a loved one has passed, it is not unusual to feel overwhelmed and confused about your duties as a trustee. We can guide you through the process and make sure that you provide the necessary notices, deal with property appropriately, protect the trust assets, and protect yourself from liability.

At Shepston & Miller, we handle a range of legal matters affecting our elders which can include issues related to health care, guardianship, conservatorship, retirement, Social Security, long term Care Planning (Medicare/Medicaid/ALTCS), VA benefits, estate planning, and other important matters.

If proper planning has been done, a person has nominated a person they trust to care for their healthcare make their healthcare decisions in a situation when they are unable to do so for themselves in a Healthcare Power of Attorney. Similarly, they have nominated someone to make decisions regarding their finances and assets through a Durable General Power of Attorney.

Having the title of Lawyer carries negative expectations and often the punch line to many bad jokes. Allyson will give you the opposite – her knowledge, experience and “bed side manner” are simply the best. While preparing our family Trust she not only thought of possible future outcomes, she made provisions within the Trust to protect our assets and kids from these possibilities. All the while explaining everything in ‘human talk” not “lawyer (confusing) talk.” I have recommended her with confidence as the BEST Trust attorney out there and will continue to do so.
